Johanna Gostner. Team Leader

Associate Professor of Biochemical Toxicology | European Registered Toxicologist

Johanna’s research focuses on immunometabolism and biochemical toxicology, investigating how disease processes and environmental factors such as diet, pollution, and chemical exposures affect metabolic signaling pathways and immune function. Following her PhD at the Tyrolean Cancer Research Institute and postdoctoral training at the Medical University of Innsbruck and Imperial College London, she established expertise in interferon-γ-dependent signaling, inflammation, chronic immune activation, and the analysis of metabolic and immunological biomarkers in clinical samples.

Her current work centers on respiratory toxicology, immunomodulation, and the impact of environmental stressors on metabolic and immunobiochemical pathways. This includes the development of innovative in vitro exposure systems and open-source tools for dose–response analysis of complex omics datasets. In addition to leading her research group, she heads the Core Facility Metabolomics II at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Johanna is the recipient of several scientific awards and organizes the International Pteridines Winter Workshop, a long-standing biennial meeting held in Innsbruck.

Lucia Parráková. PostDoc

Lucia investigates cellular responses to toxic exposures, including volatile organic compounds, using multi-omics approaches to uncover immunotoxicological mechanisms.

Pablo Monfort-Lanzas. PhD Student.

Pablo is a bioinformatician specializing in immunotoxicology, multi-omics integration, and dose–response analysis. He contributes to several research projects and open-source tools, including ExonSurfer and DoseRider.

Aldrien Ryan Naces Reynaldo. PhD Student.

Aldrien is a PhD student in the MYCOS program at the Medical University of Innsbruck. His research focuses on the redox behavior of antifungal azoles and their immunotoxic effects in various in vitro models.

Nadine Linherr. PhD Student.

With a background in chemistry and cell biology, Nadine investigates how environmental chemicals prioritized within PARC affect immunometabolic pathways, focusing on tryptophan metabolism and AhR signaling.
